The Pediatric Infections Research Center (PIRC) of Shahid Beheshti University, M. C. was established in January 2004. Its located in Mofid Children Hospital in the North of Tehran. This hospital has several pediatric departments with an active emergency ward which provides a great source of referral patients.

Pediatric Infectious Research Center

About us:

The Pediatric Infectious Research Center (PIRC) of Shahid Beheshti University, M.C was established in January 2004.

It’s located in Mofid Children Hospital in the North of Tehran. This hospital has several pediatric departments with an active emergency ward which provides a great source of referral patients.

Fully dedicated in conduction and expansion of research in pediatrics especially in the field of infectious disease including bacterial, viral, parasitic and mycosis using modern laboratory techniques including molecular biology.

Strategies:

1. Organization and leading for human, physical, and financial sources

2. Expansion of scientific interchanges with scientific, research and industrial centers

3. Increasing in scientific yields of center

4. Establishment of priority leveling for research, based on requirements of country and present facilities, depending ARI

5. Encouragement of informative and communicative organization in center

6. Exploitation of new and applicable technologies in research fields.

Visits:

Ø Dr Mirza hosseini visited our center. Dr Karimi explained about the projects for further collaboration. He also visited the laboratory and research units and was informed about the lab facilities and potentials. He discussed several issues on our research priorities and found common interesting in future.

Ø Dr. Malekafzali from Ministry of Health visited our center in 2006.

Ø Professor Eley visited our center on May 2006 from University of Sheffield Medical School. At the meeting, Professor A. Karimi explained on the projects of the center. Dr Eley and Dr Karimi found some interesting researches which would be good joint articles. They spoke about future cooperation.

Ø Dr. Abolhasani the member of Pasteur Institute of French .He visited our centre on March 2006. The aim of his visit was to be familiar with large scale projects on pediatric infectious disease. During his stay he explained about his project on BCG vaccine .He also visited the laboratory.

Ø On Thursday 7 Oct 2004, Pediatric Infectious Research Center (PIRC) had a special guest: Professor Colin W. Wright, Pharmacologist and the head of Pharmacology Department, Bradford University, UK. After introducing the members of center to him, Prof. Wright visited different parts of center.

Ø Dr Sadrizadeh chief manager of TDR visited our center.

Ø The deputy of WHO visited most part of our center.

Ø Dr Akira Yamami and Dr Shigeru Chiba from university of Tokyo
